Pathway to PR

Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)

Provincial pathways to permanent residency, including Ontario streams.

Overview of the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) allows Canadian provinces and territories to nominate individuals for permanent residency based on their skills, work experience, and ability to contribute to the local economy. This pathway benefits candidates with regional ties or sought-after skills.

Types of PNP Streams

Each province offers unique streams aligned with labor market needs:

Skilled Worker Streams
For professionals with needed skills in a specific province.
Business or Entrepreneur Streams
For investors and business owners establishing enterprises.
Semi-Skilled Worker Streams
For industries with high semi-skilled labor demand (hospitality, trucking, food processing).

PNP and Express Entry Integration

Candidates with an active Express Entry profile who receive a provincial nomination are awarded an additional 600 points to their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. This significantly enhances chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply.

Application Process for PNP

  1. Apply to a Province — Submit directly to the province's PNP with required criteria.
  2. Receive a Provincial Nomination — Upon approval, use the nomination for the PR application.
  3. Apply for Permanent Residency — Submit the PR application federally with expedited processing if linked to Express Entry.

Advantages of the PNP

  • Offers an alternative route for those not meeting Express Entry thresholds.
  • Enables provinces to select candidates matching regional needs.
  • Provides opportunities for applicants with specific skills or local connections.
  • Increases PR chances through nomination points for Express Entry candidates.
